Spun Yarn 77
Happy New Year!
I've just taken our last Christmas guests to the airport (mind you, the plane's wheels have not yet left the ground...)
This is just a quick update to let you know that my FREE Craftsy Sock Knit Along is now live!
I'm delighted to be able to share it with you: I will be a demonstrating three sock patterns, each of which incorporates different structural and design elements. The classes cover hints and tips on how to knit each of the patterns, along with general sock knitting information. Please encourage your friends to join the Knit-Along - it's a great way to discover the impressive versatility of the Craftsy platform!
Update: We have a winner! Our Craftsy Sock Kit Giveaway winner is sanddolla7125200. Thank you all for entering, we had many entrants!
Craftsy will not contact you directly as result of entering the giveaway, but please feel free to join us.
I'm looking forward to seeing your socks-in-progress!
I have a quick Christmas knitting story for you!
I was so taken with Julia Watt's Viking Helm that I decided to make one for a family member.
My mini holiday to Bermuda (work trip for my DH) provided me with the perfect opportunity to cast on, and the project greatly benefited from the 10 hour delay in the airport homeward bound. However, as is customary in this situation, it wasn't quite finished. I continued during the run-up to Christmas.
Christmas Eve found me in the passenger seat of the car heading towards the intended recipient, adding the final details such as the lining, braids and horns. I suggested that my driver pay strict adherence to the speed limit and take it very easy on the bends.
About 15 mins out from our destination I proudly announced that the hat was complete and that I had even bought wrapping paper and sticky tape! Taking one last admiring look, I discovered that I had sewn one of the braids somewhere over the right eye :0
There were a few choice expletives...
Fortunately I had left a tail of the sewing yarn projecting in case the braids were not wanted. I began to unpick, urging my chauffeur to drive even more sedately. It took a while to reposition the braid, but, thank goodness, the hat was complete just minutes before arrival!
